We invite you to a “wild” night of food, friends, and information. The Friends of Wilderness Park will be host our annual meeting October 22nd beginning at 4:30 at Hub Café, 225 N. 21st Street. During the meeting we’ll hold our annual board election. After that business is attended to, we’ll have some great speakers and information.
Longtime supporter and author Kay Young will join us to discuss wild edibles found in the Great Plains. Signed copies of her book, Wild Seasons, will be available to new or renewing FWP Members who contribute $50 during our Fall/Winter Member Drive.
Sara Hartzell and Aaron Druery of Lincoln Parks and Recreation will make a presentation on the Wilderness Park Subarea Strategic Plan, and field questions from you, the community.
Dave Titterington, owner of Wild Bird Habitat stores in Lincoln, and Ruth Sterns, avid birder and Wilderness Park hiker, will present The Birds of Wilderness Park. Learn about more than 20 species of birds that live in the park, and get tips on when and where you can find them.
This will be a night of celebration for all of the work our community has done over the past year as we look to the future. It’s also a great time to become a new or renewing member, and meet new friends of Wilderness Park. See you then!
